Our Favorite Business Podcasts – Impact Theory
If you’re a small business owner, and you aren’t already listening to the Impact Theory podcast, hosted by Tom Bilyeu, you’re missing out.
More Than Just a Business Podcast
Impact Theory is not just a business podcast; it’s a valuable resource for mindset training, as well as health and lifestyle tips to help you succeed (and recognize/appreciate your success), and at times, a beacon of hope in an otherwise uncertain world. And Bilyeu is not just an entertaining host; he’s got the kind of interviewing skills that cut to the chase and deliver meaningful insights that can truly improve your mindset and your life.
What Makes Bilyeu Uniquely Qualified to Craft and Deliver These “Impactful” Interviews?
Tom Bilyeu is a highly successful entrepreneur himself – most notably, one of the founders of Quest Nutrition, which went from kitchen experiments to a $1 billion valuation within just 5 years of launching. Quest offers high-quality protein, low sugar, and high fiber snacks, including their popular (and tasty) protein bars. But the company could have gone totally sideways if it wasn’t for Bilyeu’s innovative problem solving and unabashed risk-taking.
According to legend, in the early days of Quest Nutrition, they faced a highly saturated health market, major manufacturing challenges, and had zero distribution or brand recognition. So Bilyeu sat down and hand-wrote ONE THOUSAND letters to fitness and nutrition influencers, and sent them, along with samples of the new bars. This catapulted the brand to instant recognition and nearly $10 million in eCommerce sales before ever moving into retail. If that isn’t the definition of the entrepreneur dream, I don’t know what is.
Escape the Matrix and Be Legendary with Impact Theory
Once he found success in business, Tom Bilyeu – along with Lisa Bilyeu (his wife) – set his sights on “igniting human potential” through his Impact Theory platform. Although Impact Theory is, in essence, a media production company, at the center of this platform is Impact Theory University, which offers a monthly subscription to over 50 hours of education, including mindset strategy training, business strategy training – plus monthly Q&A’s and live coaching – and touts a global community of 4 million.
The entire operation is built around principles that can help you lead a life of impact (and these can be applied to your business, relationships, health, and life in general):
Then, of course, there’s the podcast. Impact Theory is just one of their weekly podcasts, featuring interviews with some of the world’s highest achievers. Just since the start of Quarantine, Bilyeu has interviewed:
- Former Democratic Presidential candidate Andrew Yang
- Author of Rich Dad Poor Dad, Robert Kiyosaki
- The inimitable Kevin Bacon
- Former NFL player (and American Ninja Warrior!), Anthony Trucks
- The co-founder of Kickstarter, Yancey Strickler
- And JEWEL
Just to name a few…
What We’re Listening to Now
In a recent episode (July 9th), Bilyeu sat down with Nicholas Christakis. Christakis is a sociologist, physician, and one of Time Magazine’s 2009 top 100 most influential people in the world. His must-read book, Blueprint: The Evolutionary Origins of a Good Society, was lauded by The New York Times’ Frank Bruni as a “dazzlingly erudite synthesis of history, philosophy, anthropology, genetics, sociology, economics, epidemiology, statistics, and more”. In other words, it’s a vast (nearly all-encompassing) and brilliant look at how all of these different elements have shaped, and continue to shape our society – infused with hopeful optimism toward the future. Bilyeu and Christakis’ conversation on Why You Should Feel Optimistic About the Future of the World is not to be missed. Check it out on Apple, Spotify, or wherever you listen to podcasts.
